Were you the victim of former Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC broker Matthew Gates (CRD# 4727945)? Gates has been registered with Worden Capital Management LLC in New York, New York since 2020. Previously, Gates was registered with Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC in New York, New York from 2016 to 2020, when he was terminated regarding, “Rep removed confidential client information in violation of company policy and SEC regulations.

Gates has been the subject of four customer complaints between 2013 and 2021, one of which was denied, according to his CRD report:

July 2021. “Approximately six years after the fact, customers allege an investment was unsuitable.” The customer is seeking $166,000 in damages and the case is currently pending. The complaint was regarding real estate securities and took place while Gates was registered with Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC.

August 2019. “Alleged misrepresentation by the broker regarding the liquidity of a private placement. August 2014 to August 2019.” The customer sought $100,000 in damages and the case was settled for $30,000. The complaint took place while Gates was registered with Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC and was regarding private placements. 

Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Gates’ customers.
