Former Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. Financial Advisor Daniel Morris Has $900,000-Plus Pending Customer Complaint

Erez Law is currently investigating former Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. financial advisor Daniel Morris (CRD# 1046760) regarding unauthorized and unsuitable trades in customer accounts. Morris has been registered with Westport Capital Markets, LLC in Westport, Connecticut since 2016. Previously, Morris was registered with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut from 2011 to 2016.
Morris has been the subject of one recent customer complaint, as well as four settled customer complaints dating back to the 1990s, according to his CRD report:
March 2017. “As per the updated U-5 that was filed by Oppenheimer: Client’s attorney alleges that unauthorized and unsuitable trades were made in their accounts, that the accounts were churned and misrepresentations we made. No time period was cited in the complaint and the account was opened in November of 2011.” The customer is seeking $961,681 in damages and the case is currently pending.
Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Morris’ customers.
