Former LPL Financial LLC broker Karen Briggs (CRD# 1100275) is accused of unsuitable investment recommendations. She was registered with LPL Financial LLC in Edmonds, Washington, from 2013 to 2022.
Karen Briggs Customer Complaints
She has been the subject of three customer complaints between 2020 and 2025, one of which was denied, according to her CRD report:
March 2025. “Customer alleges that an investment made in 2019 was unsuitable for the customer’s investment objectives and risk tolerance.” The customer is seeking $259,000 in damages, and the case is currently pending. The complaint was regarding real estate investment trusts (REITs), insurance, and equity-indexed annuities.
November 2020. “Claimants allege that in 2014 representative made misrepresentations in recommending investments in two non-traded real estate investment trusts and a non-traded business development company that were not suitable for claimants’ investment objective and risk tolerance.” The customer sought $125,000 in damages, and the case was settled for $35,000. The complaint was regarding real estate securities and business development companies (BDCs).
Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, LPL Financial LLC may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Karen Briggs’ customers.
