Options for Clients of Former Aegis Capital Corp. Broker Antonio Almeida

Aegis Capital Corp.

Erez Law is currently investigating former Aegis Capital Corp. broker Antonio Almeida (CRD# 3106626) regarding unsuitable investment recommendations. Antonio Almeida was registered with Worden Capital Management LLC in Garden City, New York from 2020 to 2021 and previously with Aegis Capital Corp. in Melville, New York from 2014 to 2017.

In February 2021, FINRA suspended Antonio Almeida for three months after he, “consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that he willfully failed to timely amend his Form U4 to disclose that he had been charged with a felony. The findings stated that while associated with his former member firm, Almeida was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, which is a class D felony. He ultimately pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge, and the felony charge was dismissed. Although Almeida was aware that he had been charged with a felony, he did not amend his Form U4 to disclose that fact within 30 days, as he was required to do. Indeed, Almeida did not amend his Form U4 to disclose his felony charge at any point prior to resigning from his former firm. Almeida amended his Form U4 to disclose the felony charge when he became registered through another FINRA member firm.”

In both July 2020 and September 2017, Antonio Almeida pled guilty to the charge of Criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Aegis Capital Corp. may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Antonio Almeida’s customers.
