Were You the Victim of Theft Due to Corecap Investments, Inc. Financial Advisor Judith Villarreal?

Erez Law is currently investigating Corecap Investments, Inc. financial advisor Judith Villarreal (CRD# 1795375) who is alleged to steal money from her clients. Villarreal has been registered with Corecap Investments, Inc. in Southfield, Michigan since 2012.

Villarreal has been the subject of four customer complaints between 2017 and 2018, according to her CRD report:

  • April 2018. “Allegations arise solely out of Villarreal’s control person status during the occurrence of alleged thefts by an RR of the firm.” The customer is seeking $509,708 in damages and the case is currently pending.
  • February 2018. “Claimant alleges that RR Ernest Romer stole money from him by alleging selling interesting in a company called P&R Capital which was the RR’s sole property.” The customer is seeking $45,000 in damages and the case is currently pending.
  • July 2017. “Claimant alleges that an RR of the firm stole money from her and that registrant failed to prevent such theft.” The customer is seeking $100,000 in damages and the case is currently pending.
  • July 2017. “Claimant alleges that broker stole money from claimant and registrant failed to present the theft.” According to the settlement, Villarreal’s former client asserted the following causes of action: failure to supervise, common law negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, respondeat superior, and state securities fraud. The causes of action related to the claimant’s allegation that Romer advised the client to invest in oil (unit investment trusts) UITs through a company identified as P&R Capital. The former client asserted that P&R Capital was a company owned by Romer and that funds Claimant submitted for investment in oil UITs were classified falsely by CoreCap as a loan. The customer sought $80,000 in damages and the case was settled for $57,500.

Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Corecap Investments, Inc. may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Villarreal’s customers.
